Huntington Beach’s Tim Reyes had a banner start to his sophomore year on the Foster’s ASP World Tour. Like a locomotive picking up speed, Timmy’s results got consistently better as the year moved forward and he soon found himself well within the top-10. The Reyes juggernaut seemed unstoppable and looked to be HB’s next threat for the crown before disaster struck. Surfing in the O’Neill Coldwater Classic in Santa Cruz, Timmy suffered a horrific wipeout during his Semifinal heat. A mistimed floater on a solid set wave saw the promising natural-footer tear both his ACL and MCL in his right knee and has put him on standby until he is fully healed. Under the watchful and brilliant eyes of Dr. Warren Kramer, Reyes hopes to join his fellow Foster’s 45 back on tour by Jeffrey’s Bay.
